Charlie Ruxton
Charlie Ruxton has worked extensively on stage and screen for the last number of years. He is a founding member of Graffiti Theatre Company where he played Shylock in 'The Merchant of Venice', Cassio in 'Othello' and Tommy Ryan in 'Strong as Horses' as well as numerous theatre in education productions. As a freelance actor Charlie has been seen performing in various venues. He joined the New Vic Theatre Company to play in 'Back to the Future with Cinderella' at the Cork Opera House, he then went on to play Ned in 'Philadelphia Here I Come' at the same venue. As well as serious theatrical roles, Charlie has played roles in musicals such as 'South Pacific' where he played Buzz Adams and Uncle Henry in 'The Wizard of Oz'. He played Estragon in Samuel Beckett's 'Waiting for Godot' and Frank in Steven Berkoff's play 'Kvetch'. He also played Dale Harding in 'One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest'. He then performed as Phil in the world premiere in 'Just Someone to Love'. He played eleven characters in 'Under Milkwood' by Dylan Thomas and was recently the Captain of the Inquisitionin 'Man of La Mancha' at the Cork Opera House. Charlie also has his own theatre company, Livewire. This company has produced play such as 'True West', the world premiere of 'Who Forgives', the musical 'Godspell' and 'Dumb Waiter'. Recently Charlie was seen as Juror 6 in the Skylight Production of 'Twelve Angry Men'. His film credits include 'Clash of the Ash', 'Into the West' and 'Angela's Ashes'. This is Charlie's second time working with Chattyboo Productions the first time being in 'The Importance of Being Earnest' when he played the part of Merriman.

Mrs Bridgie Andover


Alma Kickham
Alma Kickham has been on the Cork theatre scene for some time now and recently received her gold medal with L.A.M.D.A. She has played the part of the Detective in “West Side Story” and ‘Sister Amnesia’ in the musical “Nunsense”. Other credits include ‘Spinster Aunt’ in “Someone to love”, ‘Sinner’ in “Sorry Satan”, and the part of ‘Shawlie’ in Three in One Theatre companies production of “James Joyce a Dubliner in Cork” last summer. Twice now she has played the part of a prisoner her first outing was in the play “Caged Birds” and her second was as inmate ‘Hilda Barnes’ in The world Premiere of Patrick Glavin’s “The Cage” last November. More recently however she was promoted to ‘Warder’ in “The Haunted History Tour” at the Cork Goal. This is Alma’s First time working with Chattyboo Productions and she thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Canon Pratt


Jim Queally
Jim has been performing for many years and has worked with dozens of theatre companies both in Ireland and abroad including Druid Theatre Company Galway, Cork Theatre Company, The Everyman Theatre Company, Hampstead Theatre London, Pheonix Theatre Leicester, the Lyric Theatre Belfast and Field Day Theatre Company Londonderry. This is Jims second appearance with Chattyboo Productions after playing Canon Chasuble in 'The Importance of Being Earnest' in March and August of 2007. Jims musical credits include 'The Sound of Music' at the Olympia Theatre Dublin, 'Carousel' Tivoli Theatre Dublin and for the Cork Opera House 'The King and I' and 'Oliver'. On the big screen Jim has been seen in 'Clash of the ASh' and 'Broken Harvest'. His television appearances include 'The Aristocrats' (BBC), 'Fair City' (RTE), 'Saint Oscar' (London Weekend TV) and 'Falling for a Dancer' (BBC/RTE). As Theo he is firmly established as one of the permanent characters in the immensely popular 'Killinaskully' (RTE). Jims voice has become well known to listeners of 'Book of the Week' on RTE Radio One.

Fr. Loran


Adrian Scanlan
Adrian has been an actor since his school days and has performed in a wide variety of shows from Shakespeare, to panto, to educational theatre and more recently as a comedian. He is a founding member of the popular local comedy group 'Snatch Comedy', which performs regular improvised shows throughout Cork and Ireland. He was most recently seen acting in a more customary style as Wishee Washee in 'Aladdin' at Cork Opera House. Previously, he played various roles in Shakespeare's 'King Lear', 'The Communication Cord' and 'Philadelphia, Here I Come' by Brian Friel, 'Death of a Salesman' by Arthur Miller and 'Kvetch' by Stephen Berkoff. He spent several years working in Theatre In Education, performing and facilitating workshops for a primary school audience as part of Tell-Tale Theatre. Other credits include 'Playboy of the Western World', 'The Elephant Man' and 'Fiddler On The Roof'. Adrian also works on short films and radio. He is also a writer and occasional stand-up comedian.

Moll Kettle


Aine O'Leary
Aine has been acting for many years. Her most recent roles Lady Bracknell in 'The Importance of Being Earnest' and Mrs Joyce in 'James Joyce a Dubliner in Cork', a lunchtime production at the Everyman Palace Theatre. She toured Munster and appeared at the Dublin Fringe Festival playing Maire in Brown Penny Theatre Company's production of 'An Island's Lament'. She also took part in Brown Penny's production of 'Red Patriot' at the Triskel. She played a number of John B Keane roles including Mena in 'Sive' and Kate in 'The Year of the Hiker'. She appeared as Lily in the premiere of John B's 'The Crazy Wall' at the Theatre Royal, Waterford and as Brigid Andover in the Cork Opera House production of 'Moll'. With Feedback Theatre company she played Dunya in 'The Donohoe Sisters' and Pauline in 'The Prisoner of Second Avenue'. She worked as a news reader with 96FM for a number of years, appeard in the film 'Skates' and in the TG4 soap 'Ros na Run'. Aine is delighted to be working with Chattyboo Productions once again.

Ulick/The Bishop


Sean Healy
Sean is no stranger to the Cork stage having trained with the Cork Shakespearean Company and at the drama dept of the Cork School of Music. He has appeared in “Philadelphia Here I Come” And “Moll” with the Cork Opera House and in Cork Theatre Companies productions of “The Shaughraun”, “The Birthday Party” and “I Do Not Like Thee Dr Fell”. Sean has also worked with well known Cork Companies Limelight Productions and the Cork Arts Theatre Company in “Mame Fadden”, ”Many Young Men of Twenty”, ”The Whip Hand” and “The Well of the Saint”. He toured nationally with Brown Penny Theatre Company in “Sive”, “An Island’s Lament” and “Ghosts”. Most recently Sean worked with Three in One Theatre Company in their production of “James Joyce a Dubliner in Cork”. This is Sean’s first time working with Chattyboo Productions

Tony Canniffe
Tony has been involved in theatre here in Cork for over 30 years. He has played with the Cork Operatic Society in The Student Prince and The Desert Song and the Gilbert & Sullivan Group's last production as Dick Deadeye in HMS Pinafore. He has performed in productions by Dan Donovan and David Gordon for the Everyman Theatre Group and Gerry Barnes with the Cork Theatre Company as well as Theatre of the South with James N. Healy. He played Michael Collins in 'Rage to be Free' by Fred Williams for CTC and Sullivan in 'Mr Gilbert and Mr Sullivan' by James N. Healy. He was involved in all of the productions of The School of Music Light Opera Group playing leading roles in their productions. He has directed many productions including The Bohemian Girl, Gaslight, The Mikado, The Briary Gap, and The Student Prince. He was also theatre critic for 'The Stage' and for RTE Cork Local Radio for a number of years. Tony’s most recent work was to direct 'The Business of Good Government' last Christmas for the Swallow Theatre Company, West of Scotland.

Alf McCarthy
The acting bug bit at an early age and theacting trail took him to Shannon, Co. Clare for a year to play the Seansceal in the Knappogue Castle pageant. Stage productions include Stanley Kowalski in 'A Streetcar named Desire', Fagin in the musical 'Oliver', Oscar Madison in 'The Odd Couple', Clegg in John Fowles' 'The Collector' and an award winning role of Kipps in 'The Woman in Black'. Television credits include presenting 'Live @ 3' and 'PM Live' and more recently fulfilled a lifetime ambition by playing Dracula... in a TV commercial. Alf McCarthy is a radio producer and presenter with RTE, has acted in and produced comedy series and drama for Radio One and presented 'In The Mix' on Sunday nights. His most recent appearances include Juror 8 in Skylight Productions' 'Twelve Angry Men' at the Everyman Palace Theatre, Van Helsing in 'Dracula' and Dr Sheridan in the movie 'Strength and Honour' (director Mark Mahon).

Algernon Moncrieff


Ian McGuirk
Ian has been performing on the Cork stage for many years now. He has appeared in a wide variety of stage plays and musical theatre. He has appeared in the Everyman Palace Theatre on many an occasion in productions as diverse as 'Translations', 'Dangerous Corner', 'Da', 'Proof' and 'Death of a Salesman'. Most recently Ian was seen in 'Twelve Angry Men' and John B Keane's 'Many Young Men of 20' at the Everyman Palace Theatre. Ian holds an Honours acting diploma from L.A.M.D.A. whilst training with the Monfort StageSchool. For the Cork Opera House' Ian has appeared in productions of 'The Wizard of Oz' (Tinman), 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' (Peter) and various Christmas pantomimes. Abroad, Ian has performed with the Warehouse Theatre company in Missouri USA in their productions of 'Stop Kiss', 'Into the Woods' and 'Marvin's Room'.He also played the role of the messenger in Sophocles 'Antigone' in the Delphi Amphitheatre in Greece as part of the Greek International Federation of Festivals. Ian has also has a close association with the Fermoy Musical Society over the past few years, appearing most recently in the their production of 'Me and My Girl'. Film credits include 'Falling for a Dancer' (BBC), 'Waterloo Dentures' (Buckshee Films) and 'Razor Fish' (Helen Williams Productions). Ian is currently rehearsing two plays, John B Keane's'The Field' and 'The Importance of Being Ernest'.

John Worthington JP


Frank Prendergast
Frank is a relative newcomer to acting, having quit the 9 to 5 to practice more creative activities. Between acting roles Frank uses the skills from his previous life to illustrate, animate, design and consult - he has produced an animated video for a John Spillane song, developed successful website for a wide range of small businesses and illustrates a weekly cartoon at bifsniff.com. As an actor Frank played Jonathon Harker in 'Dracula' at the Firkin Crane, has worked with Cork companies Granary Productions, Corcadorca, Meridian and has worked with Skylight Productions playing Rosencratz in 'Hamlet' and Juror 5 in 'Twelve Angry Men'. Frank has performed two Irish language plays for children with Graffiti Theatre Company, one musical play 'Is Iomai Sli'.

Aine O'Leary

Hon. Gwendolen Fairfax


Angela Newman
Angela Newman has been performing for over 16 years. She appeared in various pantomimes, variety shows and musicals including the Irish premiere’s of 'A Chorus Line' and 'Fame'. She toured to France, with 'Joseph and … Dreamcoat' before attending Stella Mann college or performing arts in London in 1998, on her return she performed in the 'Wizard of Oz' and played Sister Leo in 'Nunsense'. She then went on to do summer seasons 2000 and 2001 in NY, playing the lead roles in 'Indian Field', 'The Gospel According to Broadway' and 'The Show of the Century'. Angela then spent 2 years singing at Bunratty and Dunguaire castles. She landed the role of Nash in the all female 'Reservoir Dogs' in Brisbane, Australia. Some of her other credits include Sophie in 'Three Piece Sweet', Tooth Fairy in 'The Four F's', Peggy in 'Dark Week' and Didley (Ugly Sister) in 'Fairytale of Cork'. Her television and film credits include the part of Julie in 'Grey' (red11) and (BBC) series 'Falling for a Dancer', 'Lotto Gold' and a McDonalds ad in Australia and most recently in a the movie 'Strength and Honour' (not yet released). Angela was among the first to tread the boards in the newly renovated Cork Arts Theatre in November 2006 when she played Jane Murphy in the world premiere of Patrick Galvin's 'The Cage'.

Cecily Cardew


Roisin Donovan
Roisin has always parcticpiated in anything possible that involved being on stage or being looked at. She thinks this is as a result of being the middle child and having a constant need for attention. Roisin began doing L.A.M.D.A. exams when she was six or seven and recently was awarded her Gold Medal. Concerning theatre, Roisin has been a part of multiple Cork Arts Studio dance and drama productions, the latest being 'Annie' in which she played Lily. She has attended the Cork Arts Studio since the age of five and would like to say that she loves the school and doesn't know where she'd be without it and its teachers. Other theatrical credits include 'Guys and Dolls', 'Oliver', 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and multiple Theatrix productions. Roisin has also done some modelling for Brown Thomas and her school fashion show. As regards televisionand film appearances Roisin's hair and shoulders can be seen in several episodes of 'Fair City', her elbow is visible in the film 'Becoming Jane'. However she can clearly be seen in the film '32a'. In addition Roisin has appeared in 'The Clinic', 'Hide and Seek' and a BUPA Ireland advertisement.

Miss Prism


Mary Canniffe
Mary has been involved in drama from her earliest years performing in productions with her father Billy Newman. She has had a long career of teaching drama and her students have won many awards for their performances. She participated in the innovative Everyman Theatre Directors Workshop and directed several plays in the “Shorts” series in the Cat Club including “This Property is Condemned” by Tennessee Williams. Mary holds a drama teaching and performing Licentiate with the London College of Music. She has also been involved in directing many productions with her husband Tony including “The Business of Good Government” in the West of Scotland last Christmas.
